Working Groups

Drupal Ladder and Core Mentoring resources

Lead: Karyn Cassio (techgeekgirl)

The Drupal Ladder project was started two years ago as a prototype program for the Boston user group. It led to the creation of the Drupal Ladder website, which has sequential lessons for getting involved with core development. These are used to fuel local meetup events around the world. There are also Core Office Hours that provide mentoring on working with core, along with a series of Get Involved with Core sprints at Drupal events, which often have a free Community Tools workshop to get people started. These projects have gotten numerous new contributors up and going, and we need to continue to create and refine the lesson materials we have for the Drupal Ladder website, and the Community Tools workshop. In particular we need to work on Drupal 8 lessons and materials for the Drupal Ladder, and continue to fill out the workshop curriculum so more people can present the workshop at more events. We would also like to create more materials for local organizers to run their own Get Involved with Core sprints.

DrupalCamp Kit

Lead: Jeffrey McGuire (jam)

The DrupalCamp Kit is a set of documentation that includes resources, planning documents, and checklists, for running your own DrupalCamp. Camps are a lot of work to do well, and many local communities feel overwhelmed, or end up “re-inventing the wheel” as they learn by making mistakes . The Kit is designed to create a consistent resource that distills the experience of event organizers all over the world, and can be shared throughout the Drupal community. Version 1 of the Kit is targeted to be completed by DrupalCon Prague, but there is still a lot of work to be done to get to version 2.

The Future of Drupal Events

Lead: Morten Birch Heide-Jørgensen (mortendk)

Gatherings are extremely important for the Drupalverse(™), so we're taking a day to learn, discuss, and plan how we can take Drupal events to the next level.

This working group will be split up into four open discussion sessions, designed to answer the questions: What have we learned as event organisers, what do we need to make our events amazing, how can we scale (and how can the Drupal Association help), and how can we improve communications on a regional and global level.

Let me share my experiences running over nine Drupal events, including DrupalCon Copenhagen and Frontend United, I want to hear your experiences as well.
If you're an event organiser, or event attendee, I need you for this working group! Come and share your dreams, fears, war stories, and expertise to help us organize better events in the future.

My working group is going be a bit different, as I've structured topics by timeslot. If you can't make it to the whole day, here's the agenda for this group so you know when to come:
12:00-13:00 Share the WTF & epicwins
13:00-14:00 Best event eva!
14:00-15:00 Right here, right now!
16:00-17:00 Charter building?

We encourage everyone who attends to actively participate and work on one of the topics presented in the afternoon.

This event is free to attend, however space is limited and advance registration is required.
